Thank You Lord For Your Blessings On Me

I was visiting a friend's blog on yesterday and her post really spoke to my heart. She had a song that I had never heard of before until then. This song really expresses how I feel about my love for our Almighty God. I thank God for continually showing me how to be content in all things and for taking care of our needs and not just our wants.
Please if you find time stop by and visit her and say hello. She has a wonderful passion for teaching and encouraging women to be the wives, mothers, friends, homemakers, etc that God called us to be. The link to her website is Teach The Younger Women. Below I have a attached the Youtube version of the song "Thank You Lord For Your Blessings On Me"  Music video by Bill & Gloria Gaither performing Thank You Lord for Your Blessings (feat. Jeff & Sheri Easter, Charlotte Ritchie and Vestal Goodman)

Here are the lyrics for this beauiful song:

Thank You Lord For Your Blessings On Me

[Verse 1]
While the world looks upon me
As I struggle along
They say I've got nothing
But they are so wrong
In my heart I'm rejoicing
How I wish they could see
Thank you Lord
For your blessing on me!

[Chorus]
There's a roof up above me
I've a good place to sleep
There's food on my table
And shoes on my feet
You gave me your love Lord
And a fine family
Thank you Lord
For your blessings on me!

[Verse 2]
I know I'm not wealthy
These clothes, they're not new
I don't have much money
But Lord I have you
And that's all that matters
Though the world may not see
Thank you Lord
For your blessings on me!

[Chorus]
There's a roof up above me
I've a good place to sleep
There's food on my table
And shoes on my feet
You gave me your love Lord
And a fine family
Thank you Lord
For all your blessings on me!

Winter Storm Jonas Heading Our Way

Hello everyone...  .
For all of you that have known me for a while my family and I live in North Carolina. We are gearing up for a big and unusual snow and ice storm by the name of Jonas. Most years we just get traces of snow here on the eastern side of the Carolinas but we are right in its path this time. Governor Pat McCrory is already calling for a state of emergency for NC. We are not only getting snow we are getting lots of ice with this storm. Due to my husband's line of work he will still have to go to work in this so please say a prayer for his safety. The kids and I have finished homeschooling for today and have went to the grocery store to stalk up on a few things. I have been making sure all the laundry is done. My husband and I do not normally heat with kerosene heaters (we have central heating and air) but we did go and purchase a kerosene heater along with the container to store the kerosene in and a pump so that if the power goes out here we will still have heat for warmth, light and to my understanding cook on the one that we purchased. We can warm up things like beans and spaghetti O's etc. We purchased bottle water and candles. The heater is something that we thought was a good investment because we have a feeling this year we will see more ice and snow this year due to El Nino. The storm will be coming in tonight and is suppose to end on Saturday evening. So please say a prayer for all of the states involved. I will keep you all posted as soon as I can.

Making Your Home A Fall Challenge

Hello dear blogging friends I am so excited that my friend Courtney is having her 6 Annual  Fall Challenge again over at her blog   Women Living Well  and I definitely will be participating.......Each week Courtney will give you one practical tip and one spiritual tip that you can do to create a haven in your home. This challenge will begin next Wednesday October 7th and run through the month of October.

Here is what Courtney has to say about her Fall Challenge:

Welcome to the 6th Annual “Making Your Home a Haven” Fall Challenge!
If you’ve been around a while – you know all about this series and might already have your candle going right now!  I can’t believe we have been doing this for 6 years – it’s been such a life changer!
I have been lighting my candle all winter, spring and summer long. It’s my daily habit to light my kitchen candle and then say a prayer for peace in our home.
Oh friends, we don’t want to just read God’s word – we want to live out God’s word in our homes first and then outside the home where God has planted us.
This challenge is all about living out the word of God within the four walls of our home.
Each week I will give you one practical tip and one spiritual tip that you can do to create a haven in your home.
Is your calendar full? Do you feel tense, rushed and even panicked at times? Do you feel like the rest of the family is feeling the same way?
I believe we can create a physical environment, as well as a spiritual environment, that can bring peace, harmony and a sense of calmness to our homes if we are willing to be intentional.
This challenge will run through the month of October on Wednesdays and this video I use yearly, explains the heart and plan behind it.  If you’ve never watched it – please do and if you have but need a refresher course – check it out again!  I hope it blesses you!

(you can’t see the video: click here)
“The wise woman builds her house, but with her own hands the foolish one tears hers down.” ~ Proverbs 14:1
Here’s the topic schedule:

Week 1: October 7th -Go buy an extra large candle and light a candle everyday in your home.
I will be starting mine in the morning but you can start yours at dinner time or whenever is convenient for you. I will be placing mine in the kitchen – the main hub of my home. Each time the candle catches your eye, say a prayer for peace in your home.
Live out the fruit of the Spirit of peace and patience this week.

Week 2: October 14th – Play soft music everyday in your home.
Choose worship, classical, jazz or another form of peaceful music that the family enjoys. Focus on using peaceful words and maintaining peaceful relationships.
Live out the fruit of the Spirit of gentleness and self-control this week.

Week 3: October 21st – Keep the candle burning, the music playing and plan a Family Fun Night.
Have a pillow party in the family room and get out every blanket and pillow in the house and be cozy with the kids or your hubby! Even if you live alone you can do this. Enjoy a cozy evening of hot cider and caramel corn. Bust out some old fashioned games and take the time to savor these moments with your loved ones.
Live out the fruit of the Spirit of kindness and joy this week.

Week 4: October 28th – Focus on the kitchen, the heart of the home.
Cook things with pleasant aromas like homemade bread, pies, and cookies. Don’t wait to have a reason to make something special – do it simply to show love to your family. Invite your kids and/or hubby to cook along side of you – make memories in the kitchen – test tasting, being creative, laughing and loving. Remember the importance of dinner time around the table as a family.
Live out the fruit of the Spirit this week by showing

love, goodness and faithfulness to your family.

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.” ~ Galatians 5:22,23
You may notice that our spiritual emphasis this year is again on the fruit of the Spirit.  There is no magic in the lighting of a candle, soft music, game nights or comfy food – it is the power of the Holy Spirit working through us that will transform our homes into a haven for everyone who passes through our doors, so the light of Jesus can shine brightly.

Will you take the challenge?

Anyone Out There I am Still Around

Hello everyone, I'm still around. Life has been busy for the Barnes family so many different changes. My eldest son will be graduating from our homeschool co-op group in 2016 which will host our county's homeschool graduation. My sweet Kenzie is starting preschool with me this year. My eldest daughter is a junior and the twins are in the eight grade. We are still homeschool and we will start back on the 24th of this month.  We had our annual family vacation. This year we went to Tennessee. We had church obligations,  family reunions just good old family fun. So hopefully as the weather cools downs we will slow down.  I still pray for everyone each and everyday and please do the same for my family. Hopefully I will be back soon to fill you in on some updates including working a temporary job for a season.  So over that now, my full time job is homemaking and I love it.  So I am back home and loving it. I will do a later post about it soon. Love you all.

God Bless All Women

Happy Mother's Day

moth·er
ˈməT͟Hər/
noun
  1. 1.
a woman in relation to a child or children to whom she has given birth.
    synonyms:female parent,
  2. verb

  1. 2. bring up (a child) with care and affection.
    "the art of mothering"

I would like to say Happy Mother's Day to each and everyone. To me you do not have to physically give birth to be a mother.  Just like the above definition of  mother states you have given birth to a child and have or had raised and love your child or if you have took care of others children and loved them as your own then you are a mother. Remember to celebrate motherhood and womanhood each and everyday...God bless you all.

Spending Time Along With God

Hello everyone. I just wanted to take that time today to reflect on the goodness of Christ. In the above picture we see Jesus holding a little child and to me this picture represent Jesus holding us in his lap and rocking and comforting us like a small child. If everyone would take time to stop during their busy schedules and days and listen you can hear him whispering in your ears, tell you that he loves you and that you belong to him. Have you ever just stood outside in the rain and let the rain beat down on your face while looking towards heaven, or have you maybe just stood in the sun and let the beams shine on your face? Well Christ is touching you in a special and magical way, letting you know that he is real and that he cares for you and he wants to provide for you if you let him.
There is no greater joy then to have Christ on the inside of you, leading you, guiding you, and just watching over you and your family. God makes no mistakes, everything he does is done for a reason and we may not see it at that time but he holds our future in the palm of his hand. So take time out everyday to be reminded that we have nothing to fear because our father is awesome and wonderful, and sometimes when you see your sister or brother (in God's eye sight we are all family) in trouble if you can lend a helping hand, make a sacrifice Why? you ask well because God made a sacrifice he sent us has only begotten son so that whosoever believed in him shall not perish. He sent Jesus here to carry our burdens and sins, now that is great all by itself, but yet in still God is still blessing you and your family. There is nothing great that we have done, but God still makes time for each and everyone of us. Give God time every single day no matter what season of life you are in.So hold on to his promise and live your life in Christ and God will handle the rest be blessed.
