The Good Shepherd

Savior, like a shepherd lead us,
Much we need Thy tender care;
In Thy pleasant pastures feed us,
For our use Thy folds prepare.

I was doing some studying in the word of God this morning and I was studying John 10:27 and in God word it said " My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me (KJV).
 Well in the Bible it often refers to human beings as sheep. We can go to Psalms 100:3, Matthew 9:36 and so on and find many references to being God's sheep.  We are like sheep in a pasture because sheep are easily influences and tend to follow one another even if it is in the way of danger. We are like the sheep because just like the sheep they know no better (we know no better) and that is why they have shepherds to guide them safety to and from the pastures to graze. We have Jesus !!!!!! We as humans are easily distracted and susceptible to group influence, we would rather follow the crowd than the wisdom of the shepherd (God). As we read the word of God we also learn that the Bible also describes sheeps in a positive way. Jesus said, " I am the Good Shepherd my sheep hear my voice , and I know them and they follow me" (John 10:14,27). So the big question for all of us is Whom are we following? One another? Self-centered shepherds?(friends) or are we truly following the voice and direction of the Good shepherd which is our father God. Dear friends our challenge is to avoid the mistake of the sheep who blindly follow one another over cliffs and into dangerous situations. We must make it our daily purpose to ask ourselves Am I listening for the voice of the Good Shepherd? Am I following Him? Mart De Haan

HI DeNeice~this was such a lovely post about Jesus. It is true that people get caught up following, copying, "worshiping" other humans in this world. As you said, the blind leading the blind~is going to lead to heartache and destruction. We need to keep our focus on Jesus~the Good Shephard. We are the sheep and only He can lead us down the path to salvation. With out a shephard, sheep will get lost, go astray...
That is what is happening in our world. Teens, grown ups, they are following and looking up to movie stars, singers, etc. instead of looking up to the one true God. Thank you for this lovely post because it has helped me remember that Jesus is my best friend and to stay close to Him. God bless you and your family, Rose

I was reading along these lines last week. Those sorts of verses have been on my mind and in my heart ever since then. :) I couldn't form it into words as eloquently as you did but this is what I was thinking. Thanks so much for sharing.
Have a blessed day!
