Being a Women of Proverbs

The bible states that we as women have a job to do as caretakers of our homes. We have to be home in order to do that. A lot of we women like to run the streets with our girlfriends while I husbands work all day and when they come home the house is not clean the children are out of order, and dinner is not done. Well I am speaking from experience I use to be that type of homemaker but I had to ask the Lord to show me how to be a Proverbs woman. So first I sat down and opened my bible to Proverbs 31 and it states: 10 [a] A wife of noble character who can find? She is worth far more than rubies. 11 Her husband has full confidence in her and lacks nothing of value. 12 She brings him good, not harm, all the days of her life. 13 She selects wool and flax and works with eager hands. 14 She is like the merchant ships, bringing her food from afar. 15 She gets up while it is still dark; she provides food for her family and portions for her servant girls. 16 She considers a field and buys it; out of her earnings she plants a vineyard. 17 She sets about her work vigorously; her arms are strong for her tasks.18 She sees that her trading is profitable, and her lamp does not go out at night. 19 In her hand she holds the distaff and grasps the spindle with her fingers. 20 She opens her arms to the poor and extends her hands to the needy. 21 When it snows, she has no fear for her household; for all of them are clothed in scarlet. 22 She makes coverings for her bed; she is clothed in fine linen and purple. 23 Her husband is respected at the city gate, where he takes his seat among the elders of the land. 24 She makes linen garments and sells them, and supplies the merchants with sashes.
25 She is clothed with strength and dignity;she can laugh at the days to come. 26 She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue. 27 She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. 28 Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: 29 "Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all." 30 Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting;but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised. 31 Give her the reward she has earned, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate......

Many women of today feel as if they have to work and it may be true because the way economy is but, you as women or still responsible for the up keep of your home., it is not the man's responisble it is ours. This so called Women Rights thing have so many people lost, on what our role is.... I know that alot of single mothers have to raise their children along due to different things but you are still to walk a Godly life that God would approve of, and we women that have husbands, be thankful and let him be the head of your house hold, even if it is wrong what he says and does,Some people may not agree about what I am saying No I am not saying stay in an abuse relationship, what I am saying is the good Lord gives us common sense also so if your husband is beating on you then it may be time to seek some help.Let the Lord fight that battle for you just lift your husand up to the lord and he will fix it for you. Now this is just step one of many that I would like to continue on about this subject on being a proverbs women.

I am so blessed to be able to stay home with my children and homeschool them. We live modestly and I am on a budget~we have one car and there is a group of mom's I exchange clothes for the children with~it is so much better than going in a department store and trying to buy a dress or pants~it is just unaffordable today. I have my girls sewing now~they love to make their own skirts for church. It is hard being a Proverbs woman~I have to keep God as number 1 in my life and honor Him by being the wife and mother that He would want me to be. How do you budget? Do you have a certain allowence every week that you stay to? Thank you for this great post and to God be the Glory! Rose

Many women say the Proverb's 31 woman worked outside the home. I am not going to debate them, because she may have (I personally do not believe that), though I doubt highly she worked a "job". She went outside the home to buy a field for her household and to oversee it. Her home was a high priority for sure. Libbers also say she used her maids to do all her work, but we know that was not true. She herself was responsible for her home.
Wonderful post and I look forward to more.

Excellent post Deniece! It is very easy for me to fall into the thinking that unless I contribute financially to our income, I'm just a drain. My husband is great to remind me that raising our children to be Godly adults and keeping our house is equally as important as him bringing home the paycheck. Thanks for the encouraging post. Have you read Stepping Heavenward by Elizabeth Prentiss? I highly recommend it! God bless you.

That is an awesome post. I fell in the trap of having to work outside the home to feel fulfilled. I put my children in daycare and school and never had my house in order. Thank God for his revelation in 2003. I have home ever since. My house and schedule is not where I want it to be but I am on the path to it. Thank you for writing and encouraging us. It is nice to see this post coming from a black woman. I my experience (and some may not agree but this is what I have experienced) there are not very many black women who stay at home, let their husbands truly lead their home and like it. Thank you my sister. God bless.
