Ring in the New Years........2011 Here we come

Hello dear friends.....I pray that all had a wonderful Christmas holiday. We had a wonderful time enjoying friends and family and just celebrating the birth of Christ. The children really enjoy everything that they received and just played all day long even little miss cupcake enjoyed her first Christmas(pictures to follow soon). But anywhoo I just read a few blogs that talked about what their families did to ring in the new year and so I decided to post about what we do here at the Barnes Homestead...

We usually do dinner and a movie here at home. I usually try to make one of our favorite family meals (taco salad with the works wink.gif ) and we all then load up in the car about 10 pm and head to our church for our local Watch service (for those that do not know about watch services it is just where your church family gets together at 10 pm and sing hymns and pray and then our pastor may teach a really short sermon until 12 midnight and at the struck of 12 we all just praise and worship God thanking him for the new year and allowing us to see it. Then we go to the dining hall and have coffee, orange juice, and doughnuts for a early breakfast then we go home and go to bed. The next morning my family and I just spend the day together just enjoying one another company and we may go visit family and friends. biggrin.gif

Also here in North Carolina when I was growing up and my husband's family did the same thing, we have what we called a New Year's Day feast. This feast consist of some kind of pork dish which may be fried pork chops are Bar-Que which stands for prosperity, chopped greens (collards, turnip salad etc) which stands for money and black eyed peas witch stands for coined money. Can I say that it works laugh.gif not sure our years have varied laugh.gif But we still enjoy doing this and plus we like these different types of food.

So what are some of the things your families do to welcome in a new year?....

Wishing you and your sweet family a very Happy New Year.

We don't do anything special for the New year. It is going to be very hot here New Years Day, 111.2F, so we we will be doing our best to stay cool.

I like what your family does, it would be good if we celebrated like that here.

Homemaking for Christ

Hello and welcome to Organized Homemaking for Christ...... So just sit yourself down and have a cup of tea and some cookies and lets talk about the goodness of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ., lets talk about the goodness of God and how he has brought us this far and how we as believers in Christ will continue to follow his words pertaining to being homemakers, helpmeets to our husbands, and mothers to our children.
