When I first watched this I was thinking wow...I have seen one episode and the storage that the women have. I don't know. How many containers of laundry soap does someone need? At my home we have been slowly working on removing processed foods...and the coupons seem to be for things like this.

I promote strongly a food storage for a family. I promote strongly living frugal as a wife to make the home run smoothly...but I don't think so, this would not be for me, even for taking so much for so little. Kind of makes me think of the Church of Laodicea- so wealthy and having a need for nothing.

I agree with the previous comment. How much does one family need? And what about expiration dates? We can hardly use the canned goods that we have by the expiration date. And 40 bags of potato chips? That's just hard to take in.

The only one that I really admired was the couple who donate all of theirs to local charities.

But it is kind of facinating to watch the process of shopping and oweing nothing!

I believe in using coupons but this is greedy. Sometimes they clear off shelves of certain products and there is nothing left for other customers. They hold up the line for other people. Coupons were intended to get people to try new products not for some to make a career of getting everything free.

We don't have cable to watch the show, but I LOVE Extreme Couponing! My mother did that for years before she passed away before it was cool! :)

***I saw you on "Circle of Moms" and voted for you. New follower, I hope you will follow back! :)

When I heard about the show I was very excited to learn new ways of couponing.. Well I didn't.. I was very disappointed in the show..If you watch it they buy unhealthy foods..One lady bought 72 bottles of mustard and her husband said he didn't even like mustard?? What happens to the food when it is outdated?? I stock up on food.. I freeze food..These ladies are as bad as the show called Hoarders...

I have heard recently that stores are doing away with coupons or cutting alot out with double couponing because of this show...This show is hurting the ones who want to save on a normal food shopping day.. Lisa

I love the show and it inspired me to start couponing!! I love the ones who share with our troops and donate to shelters because that's what community is all about. Anything else is greed! I'm new at couponing, but no means am I "extreme". I was inspired by the fact that I can save precious gas, time, and money from having to run to the store so much. I only buy health/meds, cleaning, and some food with coupons. I grow my own veggies, can preserves, bake homemade bread from scratch, and brew my own kombucha and kefir. So any processed food coupons I don't use. I cook homemade meals every night for my family, added with this it has saved so much on my grocery bill. I only have to go shopping once a month for food, and once every three-six months for tissue, meds, soap, deodorant, etc... I even shop for my elderly parents on both sides who can't travel to the store. It's so cheap I can just buy for them now. You don't have to be extreme to coupon!!

This is actually one of the things on my list to blog about. I watched the show on youtube and it just doesn't rub my spirit right. There is something wrong with all this - it's an addiction, obsessive and greedy.

Webster's definition of Greed: a selfish and excessive desire for more of something (as money) than is needed.

It becomes an obsession to where all they think of is money and how to save more of it, like its the number one thing in their life. It's almost as if it has gone so far as to become an idol, something they nurture and worship every week.

I use coupons the few times that we actually buy processed food. Yesterday was one of them because we are planning a cookout, so the Oscar Mayer hotdogs were 99 cents with the coupon. I could have cleared the store out, but I decided to leave some for someone else. It just seems selfish to me to take it all for myself.

Just my 2 cents...

I think this whole show is set up! I think the stores are overriding their coupon policies for the sake of advertisement. I know that alot of them are shopping at Kroger just by looking around the store on the show. I shop at Kroger & believe me they do not let you do that with coupons! Our Kroger no longer doubles coupons. They will triple up to $.50 but only do that with 2 of the same coupons. Any other duplicate coupon is only taken at face value.
I do applaud those who are giving the goods to food pantrys & as gift bags to the troops. That is exactly what should be done! Really? How much toothpaste, soap, laundry detergent, etc does one person need?
Less greed = Less need!
Blessings!

I really like to watch this show...but I do not coupon to this extent. Nathan, Mr. Coupon from the hour long episode in Dec. (you can find him on you tube), said that on a normal shopping trip (without the camera's) if he saves 60% of his bill he is happy. These people try to save between 95-98% for the episode they are on. This can't be done every time they shop.
Amanda, from the first episode also, said that she is obsessed with shopping. I think it is so sad to buy so much and she and her husband have no children. She recently said on you tube that she gives to her grandmother, mother and donates some as well...thank goodness!
I will continue to watch the show, but I will not buy as much as these people. I am afraid that it would go bad before I could eat it all. I do give to the poor at my church. If I could buy this much, I would probably donate most of it.

I need to start shopping like that! But,most of my stuff is not bought from places such as walmart, or walgreens, or whatever. However, My Aunt is KNOWN for her shopping skills! She has walked out of stores SEVERAL times with hundreds, sometimes thousands, of dollars in product and the store owing HER MONEY (and they PAY her - none of that rebate stuff, hand her cash kinda pay her!!)!

As a Canadian, there is no way we can do "extreme couponing" or even much of the regular couponing that can be done in the U.S. I see the show on TLC as almost hoarding. However, I have been able to get some good tips on starting a stockpile, but I only use coupons on things I know I am going to use and only stockpile items that will either not go bad (ie: toilet paper) or have a really long expiry. It really is not saving money if you are buying a ton of stuff you really don't need. I do however love those people shown on the show that are giving their purchases to food banks and the military!

I just recently got into couponing and it has been a huge blessing for our family. We are not extreme like on the show but it does inspire me to find the best deals.
