Being a Women of Proverbs

The bible states that we as women have a job to do as caretakers of our homes. We have to be home in order to do that. A lot of we women like to run the streets with our girlfriends while I husbands work all day and when they come home the house is not clean the children are out of order, and dinner is not done. Well I am speaking from experience I use to be that type of homemaker but I had to ask the Lord to show me how to be a Proverbs woman. So first I sat down and opened my bible to Proverbs 31 and it states: 10 [a] A wife of noble character who can find? She is worth far more than rubies. 11 Her husband has full confidence in her and lacks nothing of value. 12 She brings him good, not harm, all the days of her life. 13 She selects wool and flax and works with eager hands. 14 She is like the merchant ships, bringing her food from afar. 15 She gets up while it is still dark; she provides food for her family and portions for her servant girls. 16 She considers a field and buys it; out of her earnings she plants a vineyard. 17 She sets about her work vigorously; her arms are strong for her tasks.18 She sees that her trading is profitable, and her lamp does not go out at night. 19 In her hand she holds the distaff and grasps the spindle with her fingers. 20 She opens her arms to the poor and extends her hands to the needy. 21 When it snows, she has no fear for her household; for all of them are clothed in scarlet. 22 She makes coverings for her bed; she is clothed in fine linen and purple. 23 Her husband is respected at the city gate, where he takes his seat among the elders of the land. 24 She makes linen garments and sells them, and supplies the merchants with sashes.
25 She is clothed with strength and dignity;she can laugh at the days to come. 26 She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue. 27 She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. 28 Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: 29 "Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all." 30 Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting;but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised. 31 Give her the reward she has earned, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate...... Many women of today feel as if they have to work and it may be true because the way economy is but, you as women or still responsible for the up keep of your home., it is not the man's responisble it is ours. This so called Women Rights thing have so many people lost, on what our role is.... I know that alot of single mothers have to raise their children along due to different things but you are still to walk a Godly life that God would approve of, and we women that have husbands, be thankful and let him be the head of your house hold, even if it is wrong what he says and does, even if he drinks or do drugs, let the Lord fight that battle for you just lift your husand up to the lord and he will fix it for you. Now this is just step one of many that I would like to continue on about this subject on being a proverbs women. So we will pick this up later on Monday. I hope that everyone will come and join my new website and post questions and comments.

May 4 was my birthday and I did not find your blog until today. I am glad I did. I don’t want to make this a race thing, but I have to because people need to be made aware. This is my first encounter with a black Christian homemaker who does it all in the name of God. Although I have a college degree (I am graduating on Sunday, actually), I believe that the most important thing for me to do is to settle into my role as a wife/as a helpmeet, and someday soon a mother. I am being told that this is not a “black thing” or that this is a “rich people” thing. I am getting negative criticism from all around--especially from my mother, who things that I am “tying down” or burdening my husband. It seems that the world is harder on black women who choose to be homemakers, because we are expected to “get out there” and help our husbands and to “uplift the race.” In no way do I ignore my race, but it gets to the point where you want to just scream “I am a child of god! And, now, I am a wife! Let me do my duty according to God’s will because he did not make exceptions according to race." I got people telling me to "grow up," "get some sense" and all types of things. And this is coming from every side. The only person who supports this is my husband, and, although that should be enough, it is still hurtful that I dont have many people to relate to on this issue. It truly frustrates me, but when I see humble and lovely women like you, I am uplifted and inspired. Thank you so much. And I love your home!
