Time to Clean Ladies

Good Morning and welcome to the Barnes Homestead were everyone is always welcome

Well ladies in blogland its Monday and time to start the week again, at the Barnes homestead. My girls and I have been washing laundry, which consist of sheets, blankets, and curtains. I have just started making my own homemade laundry soap and boy oh boy sugar pies do I love it. Then we hang them on the clothes line were the breeze is blowing and the temperature outside is in the mid 90s. Oh how I love the smell of fresh sheets and towels that are drying in the summer sun.

Then it is time to take out the iron board and iron all of the sheets and curtains so that we can place them back up to all the windows, this is alot of work but it makes your home so pretty and welcoming, the beds now have clean linen and the windows have fresh clean and pressed curtains, Oh What a Beautiful Day........

Then its on to make the bread for the week, What a wonderful smell fresh loaves of sourdough bread in all different shapes.... We will be well feed all this week. .... Making cakes , pies, cookies, muffins, and breads is one of the things that I love to do with my daughters we have a great time and then we freeze what we are not gone to eat so that we will have it when we need it.

Soon in a couple months it will be time to start getting everything ready to can all of our jams and vegetables for the winter months to come. Fresh bread and homemade jam...hmmmm yummy to my tummy.

Now light a candle and play some great classical or just plain christian music and get to going yall

So just to let you know there is alot that will be going on in here today, which we have took the week off from school so that we can get prepare to celebrate the fourth of July. Now we did take turns reading Bible verses before we got started because it is important to include God in everything that we do...... So since I can be slow at times trying to get everything done (I'm only human ) : ) I will be getting off trying to finish out the day, dinner is cooking in the crock pot which is a bottom round roast that I will be serve potatoes and carrots with a salad and fresh homemade sourdough bread. See you guys tomorrow and don't forget the giveaway ends on Friday.....

DeNeice~ I too have had a busy Monday and it's not even noon yet!! Our temps here today are supposed to be lower than our 109' yesterday all the way down to 107', maybe I should get my coat out :) I tried to have all of my cleaning and morning chores done by around 7AM so it's still cool out. You sound like you are having a blessingly busy day. May God bless you as you spend time with your family.
Blessings,Joann

HI DeNiece~what a great post! I also love to hang out the laundry~it smells so crisp and fresh when I take it in. The children love to snuggle up on fresh clean bed sheets. You are better than me with the ironing. I get so hot now ironing that I only do it if my airconditioning unit is on. I love the bread~I also have used my own laundry detergent~I find it works better than the store bought kind. Enjoy your lovely dinner with your family tonight~God bless, Rose

Sounds like you all had a lovely day! We are expecting guests tonight so we spent our afternoon freshening up the house and preparing platters of meats, cheese and veggies for a sandwich bar. It's in the 108 degree range here today so nice cool food and ice cream for dessert is just the ticket. I hope you will post some photos of your lovely baked goods, they sound yummy!

DeNeice,
I too have started using homemade laundry detergent and I LOVE it! I do have to say I am a little jealous that I can't hang my clothes outside to dry though. Especially with the weather being so nice here this week.
Have a wonderful week!

Hi DeNiece ~ I just wanted to thank you for stopping by my blog and commenting. I am so happy you enjoy it. You are now entered in the contest. I was reading in your post that you will soon be preparing for winter by putting up fruits and veggies. I to do this and it is one of my most favorite things to do. My daughter loves to make the jelly and my favorite is salsa. You should look into your county fair for you canned and backed goods. We enter our stuff every year and we win cash and lots of ribbons. Best in Show 2 years in a row. I would like to here about you canning and preserving techniques sometime. i will be doing a blog on our harvesting and canning in Aug. Have a great day !
