Week 1: Making Your Home A Haven

Good Monday morning ladies....Today is the first week of Courtney's over at Women Living Well Making Your Home a Haven Challenge.   Here is this week's  challenge: Let's work on being a Proverbs 14:1 woman. "The wise woman builds her house, but with her own hands the foolish one tears hers down."  Light a candle and begin praying over your home every time the glimmer of the candle catches your eye.  Courtney gave each and everyone of us examples of two different household and I so much want to have the home of number 2 but sometimes I can be living in home number 1 but this week I will be working on giving my all and reminding myself that God give me my husband and family along with our home and it is my job to make it a haven for my family. I will be burning some vanilla candles that my family loves the smell of and as I burn this candle in the afternoons I will be praying for my family and I will also be using it as a reminder to also:

  • Slow down and listen more to what my husband and children needs are
  • Continuously praying for my marriage that it will always be pleasing to God the father
  •  Spending more time with my family instead of always trying to make sure that everything is on a perfect schedule. I need to relax more and let things go off of schedule sometimes because I miss a lot of family time.

Please join in with me and let's make our home a haven where our family loves to gather together and enjoy one another company and laugh and play and share God's word....

DeNiece~ I so much want to say that I live like the #2 home but to be honest I am currently the #1home. Striving to be the best at being the best Proverbs 31 wife I can be. Please keep me in your prayers to be more like the #2 and I will certainly keep you in mine.
Blessings,Joann

What a wonderful reminder! You have motivated me. I've been so busy taking care of things, that I forget to pray for our empty nest - I mostly pray for our little birds who have left the nest.

Thank you, DeNiece. Have a blessed week.

DeNiece ~

It can be soooo easy to get caught up with the fullness of days, that we find ourselves rushing through things just to keep pace...even our conversations and relationships. I hope to intentionally refocus on the Lord and prayer for peace this week, too.

Blessings ~

I lit a candle in the kitchen and I like that every time I walk by, I say a prayer for my home and family...

Anonymous,

She doesn't moderate comments, so they gets posted immediately. Just wanted to let you know so you didnt' feel offended.

Deniece--You are such a joy. I find myself selfishly wishing you could come back to posting regularly, but I'm glad you have your priorities straight--making your home a haven is more important than a blog. Bless you, sweet sister!

Candles and soft music relax me so much! I need to buy a candle and I have the perfect place to put it. Now, just to have some extra cash. :) The Dollar Store may have to work for right now!

I just found a candle that had a votive in it and I lit it. I'm going to post it on my blog.

What a beautiful idea.
Love, Cass

(I'm working on the music... I don't have anything that plays music except my computer and it doesn't play loud enough to hear it very well)
