Well good Monday Morning dear friends......This week on Courtney's blog Women Living Well we are all still following the challenge to Making Our Homes A Haven. So for in weeks one and two we have lite candles to set the atmosphere and to remind us to pray for our families each and every time we walk pass the candle or see the light flicking from the candle. Now I can say that I pray for my family on a regular bases but ever since I started praying for my family each time I walked pass the candle I can say I have pray for each person at least 30 times in a day lol.....and then week two was introducing music to our haven and my family and I love music especially the christian group Selah.. So we having being enjoying listening to them and to the soundtrack on the movie Little Women. Now we are into week three and this weeks challenge is:
List a few of the spots in your home that make you visually stressed because of all the clutter. Now go buy something for that spot - like a basket to put it all in! Work on cleaning up clutter. Throw things away. While you're at it - clean up some clutter in your spiritual life. What gets in the way of your peace spiritually?
I would have to say the place that I really need to uncluttered in my home would be my own bedroom. I have a recliner in my room that I do all of my crocheting and reading in it's my cozy corner. Now this area catches all of my junk and it gets so bad sometimes I have to uncluttered it so that I can sit in the chair lol....So what I did this morning to start off this challenge was to clean out the entire area and then when I go out today I will be picking up a nice pretty basket to place in this corner to hold my yarn and my books.
I also in my spiritual life I would like to declutter my mind sometimes when I get up to do my devotion time before everyone gets up I will start to read God's word and then my mind will start drafting off to what I have to get done that day and doing this time I want to be totally focused in on God so that I may hear his voice. I told myself that I need to declutter my thoughts of anything that is not of him and of anything that has to be done until I have finish my one on one time with my Father god....The verses this morning was really uplifting so I wanted to share with everyone Proverbs 3:5-6 states, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight." So there you have it here are more things that I will be doing in my home this week to make my home a haven.. Also would like to say I still have not brought a new camera so the picture may be still a little blurry because I am still taking pictures with my cell phone...
Here is a before photo of the my cozy corner
Here is an after photo now all I need is a pretty basket

I blogged about decluttering my bedroom as well... seems like that's what all of us struggle with. Be blessed today!
Hooray! Way to go decluttering your cozy spot! You get a gold star hehe! Keep that candle burning!!
Much love,
Courtney
I need to declutter my room and garage which is my husbands mess really, lol. I love how your spot feels so much more cozy! Keep it up girl. BTW this is my first visit to your blog, love it!
Your blog title just begs for my follow - so I did. Maybe we can turn the Titus 2 scripture on its head and I can learn a little from a younger woman in the group!
I am still working to make my Home a Haven, too. You can find me at #14 - While' He's Away. The link stands out because it has those silly characters in the middle of the title where I only typed an apostrophe!
I too have a focus problem when it comes to devotion time. A friend of mine gave me a great idea. When she sits down for devotion time she keeps a pad next to her and whenever something pops in her mind she writes it on the pad and continues her time with God. Then when she's done she goes back to see what she wrote on the list.
Hi, Denise! I think we are all on the same journey here - I'm also blogging about de-cluttering on my "Country Dreams" blog! In fact - I enjoyed your post here so much that I posted a link on my blog to encourage my readers to come visit you! (Hope that was OK?) Here is the link to what I wrote, if you would like to see it - http://wwwcountrydreams.blogspot.com/2010/10/minimalist-mondays-better-late-than.html
Love what you had to say - keep up the good work, dear!
I know what you mean about your mind drifting off during devotions in the morning. I am the exact same way. So I too will be decluttering my mind, so that my focus will be on the Lord alone.
Great tips for the body, mind, and spirit!!
Great advice, I can declutter but my probelm is recluttering after decluttering.
I think I just enjoy being around my books, if that makes sense. lol
WoW, looks so much better! Our bedroom is our hot spot. Everything gets piled in there - especially on the dresser. I need to clear it off and put pretties there so hubby won't be tempted to keep putting his stuff there. (yes, this time I can it's mostly, not all, his fault. Then again, he might just lay it on my pretties!!!!! Yikes! LOL! I do think I will do that. I love what yall are doing! Smiles, Cass
Thanks I really needed this post! I was just thinking that the other room was a bit cluttered!!! Also the candles are a great idea I can't wait to do it.
Go peek at my blog and look what you inspired me to do. It's like the 3rd or 4th post down. :)
xoxo Cass
I participated in this challenge too. It wasn't hard because I love music and candles. Such an easy way to make a cozy atmosphere.
